Art of the Mallow winner 2015

It was a fabulous day of laughter, celebration and marshmallows! Our 6 finalists were Daniel Bramfitt, Izzy Burton, Katie Corrigan, Michelle Loa Kum Cheung, Mitko Karakolev and Ellen Miller. You can check our all of their final design submissions in our previous blog post. Unfortunately, Ellen wasn’t able to make it to the event.

Our finalists arrived at The House of Boomf at 12:00 to meet and mingle with the judges. After some chatter and nibbles, it was time for the judging to commence. The judges took their seats and Daniel was first up to show his designs.

One by one, they presented and explained the inspiration behind their designs. Once everyone had been up, it was time for the judges to deliberate. Boomf co-founder, James Middleton, said ‘Every entrant’s designs were brilliant and looked amazing on the marshmallows’.

Deliberations came to an end and everyone made their way to the roof of Exmouth House for pre-announcement Pimms and cucumber sandwiches. The beautiful London skyline, amazing people, great British snacks and even the sun was out! It was glorious. Soon, it was time for the announcement everyone had been waiting for.

Standing in a line, a box was placed in front of each finalist. They were to open the boxes at the same time where a balloon printed with their design would float out. The one with the longest string was our winner. Simple, right? Of course there was a little hiccup as when the lids came off, a gust of wind came and blew 2 balloons into the sky!

A bit of wind wasn’t going to stop us though. James announced the winner to be Izzy Burton (second from the left). James said ‘We were really impressed with Izzy’s creativity in designing something that stays true to our ethos of ‘say it with Boomf’. We’re all for supporting new talent and her artwork is really striking and versatile - we think it will be a big hit with our fans and we’re looking forward to welcoming her to the team”.

Izzy said “I am so excited about winning and kickstarting my career with Boomf - having just finished university, this will be a great first step to getting my art and illustrations out there. Coming from such a small village with only 40 people, I’m really looking forward to moving to London and getting inspired”.

We’d like to say a massive thanks to the finalists, the judges and everyone that came to the event.

P.S. One of the balloons was recovered safely. The other, however, is now lost to the world.
